The installer should reject blank password for the DB or be able to work with it.

I think it should reject it personally - but it should inform the user why.

It could work with it if you change the line in appg/settings.php to $Configuration['DATABASE_PASSWORD'] = '';

Fixed revision 692. A warning message has been added to the installer for blank passwords.

The user is notified that this use is not supported, and advised they will need to paste the appropriate line of code into conf/settings.php or specify different database credentials. They can ignore the warning and continue, or provide different settings.
