I'm having a problem with getting PHP to talk to MySQL on my IIS box. I'm running PHP 4.4.1 and MySQL 5.0. I keep getting the Vanilla Installer error:

"Oops. We came across some problems while setting up Vanilla...
We couldn't connect to the server you provided (localhost). Are you sure you entered the right server, username and password?"

If I create just a simple PHP page to try and connect, I get the following error:

"Warning: mysql_connect(): Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client"

I've seen several posts that seem to discuss this message, but not are related to IIS. It seems as though something has to be tweaked in the MySQL or PHP configuration to allow PHP to authenticate.

    Any help would be appreciated!
