    Hello all,

Ok so i got all the files on to my host, and i am trying to run the installer. When I try it keeps asking for mysql server. I checked with my host and I have the right one, but i keep getting this error msg.

" Oops. We came across some problems while setting up Vanilla...
We couldn't connect to the server you provided (mysqlhost). Are you sure you entered the right server, username and password?"

I know the username, password and database name are correct( Copy and paste, took out the extra spaces).

Is there something I am missing?

If the database server is not localhost you'll need to ask your hosting provider what name they keep the db server under. It could be anything if it's not localhost.

I had the same problem. It took me a few minutes to figure it out. My host uses Cpanel, so I created the database and the database user with the GUI.

My problem was caused by the fact that I didn't assign my database user to the database. It turned out to be a silly error on my part.
