    Hi,

I have some questions about this wonderful forum software.

Is it possible to have a search option "all" in addition to topics, comments and users?

I want to change the default mode to member from unauthenticated. meaning that any user, member or not, can post discussions and comments. I played a little bit with this subject. there is no setting in admin area. then I looked at database I changed unauthenticated role row from

    PERMISSION_ADD_COMMENTS";N;s:27:"PERMISSION_START_DISCUSSION";i:1;s:27:" to
    PERMISSION_ADD_COMMENTS";i:1;s:27:"PERMISSION_START_DISCUSSION";i:1;s:27:"
    and make UnAuthenticated 0
But this did not work and I changed back to original. do anyone have an idea?

I downloaded DiscussionFilter add-on and set it up. It's great and working. When I translated its language variables. it broke. when i delete non-english ones it starts working again.

When I go to Start new discussion page (IE 6 SP1 on win 2000), "Start a new discussion" sentence is below the visible area and i have to scroll down to post. I think it's related with IE's wrong CSS implementation because it's working correctly on Firefox. Does someone know any workaround?

"is it possible to have a search option "all" in addition to topics, comments and users?"

no. by default. mark, for this forum ... what do people search for? is it comments or topics? i guess it is something like 90% for comments 9% for topics and 1% of queries for people. wouldnt it be nice to change "users" for "people" in the core? (threads - >discussion, user-> people)

    From this discussion:
    2. If you mean anonymous posting, due to the way vanilla is written it's virtually impossible. Perhaps with a *lot* of work it could be done as an addon but that really isnt why vanilla is here. Mark has said, however, that he'd like to write an anonymous forum. Dont put it on your expectations list for atleast a year though.

    anonymous posting?

you could do "something like this" by adding post it form on the sidebar that directs all things posted to admin email. Expect lots of spam.

Hmmm, the elusive "guest account" extension has gone missing again.
