Hi there, now Vanilla 1 is out i'm begining to work on a ground up rebuild of planet-tolkien, the old framework is too poorly built to carry on with and frankly the site is a mess! WE NEED VANILLA!!! But there are some features we really need to add to vanilla for the re-launch:
Site currency: Presently, site members get 20 mithril points for their first login of the day, this can then be spent on creating a character for themselves by choosing from a list of character types and places to live. I need a extention for this which will allow the users number of posts, character type and area of residence to display in their post headers and other paid for items to display on their user profile page. Additionally the moderators need to be able to gift memebers mithril as prizes for competitions the admins run.
The second one doesn't even need an extension; Vanilla roles can already do all that, though you may need to restyle it before it looks like what you want.
I must admit I wondered if i'd missed somthing there, it's been a few months since I did anything on this project. Does the site currency look possible though?
chedabob, yeah I think it could really add somthing to the vanilla community, particularly for the more fan-centric forums. I'd talked with the PT mod's about going ahead into vanilla without the features and while we all agree vanilla would improve the site these features are pretty essential to the character of the site and it would be nice if we had somthing to spend mithril on at last!
