wondering if there is any possibility of having say a link by the side of, or below, a poster's name to a skype button or yahoo messenger button.

ie by clicking on it, you can talk to them via skype, etc

It would be quite possible, but the existing solution would be to use the name value pairs. This has the advantage of maintaining a uniform style --and limiting commercial logos etc.

Did a little test, something is stripping out the Skype call, it should be "skype:Joe_Debono?call"

blueshark, i was wondering too, if it could be done with creating a name value pairs...................tho the thing woudl only be visible if a forum member clicke don the account page of the user, right?

ideally, i woudl like the skype button, or messenger button, to appear on the discussion/thread page, beside or below the user's handle.

    Strawberries, I see your point.

However, I am getting into the ethos of having the thread with just content, and only the most minimal idenitification info.

When you read a thread, you want to minimise information that remains 'constant'. After all, we are not stupid, we want to read the new information not repeats. If we want contact info, we can check the profile.

you're right, blueshark.....now that i think of it, we don't need to see in a person's evry post, their messenger or skype contact details......if the icons were on the various individual account pages, that woudl suffice
