    i'm considering adding captions to images with this approach:

    1/ for each image with file name <image-name>.<image-ext>, thumbnailer.php will add a empty file of the form _caption.<image-name>.txt, so that users can add a caption for that image.

    2/ if the first string of the file _caption.<image-name>.txt is not null, then index.php will add the caption at the bottom of the image when displayed.

    would this be a viable approach?

    I've done a quick hack on index.php in filebrowser. Here's a sample image display:

    http://www.pacificlinks.org/v/photos/index.php?fpp=10&did=1&fid=1

    with Unicode text caption below the image.

    If anyone needs the source to index.php (no change to thumbnailer.php), let me know.
