    I currently have a forum running and I'm interested in using vanilla perhaps to replace it. I want to try it out separately first and assess it that way. My question is will it affect my current installation. I am total DB noob. I don't want to click the install and it go to town on my current DB and wipe out the existing forum. I need some education on how this works :P Do I need to create another DB via my hosting control panel or what. Perhaps someone can link me to an existing thread. In the meantime I'll search around for something. Thanks for the help!

    The installer wont let you overwrite a different database (unless you tell it to) so you should be safe.

    Update on this. Got it up and running with little to no trouble. Fantastic, fast and fun so for. Some stuffy is buggy but I'm having a lot of fun customizing my new forum. One day I'll migrate my phpbb forum over perhaps :D

    I'd suggest you do it sooner rather than later. Infact I'd have suggested you do that first since you'll need to migrate to 0.9.2.6 then upgrade...
