I'm all new to Vanilla and I couldn't find answers to these two questions...
I want the real names to appear as authors of the discussions and want to use usernames only for logins... is that feasible?
Also, can I block users from editing their profiles so that they can't change their real name and e-mail address?
The reason why I want to do this is that I plan to use Vanilla in my work environment with users logging in to Vanilla using a standardized username then post under their real name. I can do this in SMF, however although SMF is a great forum software, I find it too feature rich for my needs.
OK guys, I thought this would help but I realize that these discussions were about older versions of Vanilla. I installed v1.0.3 and need to find a way of using real names in comments instead of usernames. However, I don't want to get rid of usernames and force users to login with real names... I'd like to keep usernames for the logins and real names in posts.
What should I change in comments.php or elsewhere to make that happen?
Ahhhhh I see it. Your "real name" in this case is "Administrative User". This may work. Since my Vanilla is an internal forum for work, I was hoping to have
