    digilee, you're running Vanilla 1.1.1 and IIRC, JQMedia utilises some new JS from Vanilla 1.1.2 (if I do remember correctly, then that needs to be listed as a dependency Schiz). Try updating Vanilla and then enabling JQM again...

    When pasting the url, the videos work fine but have the url also visible below the video.
    Is there a way to remove the url besides having to write html?
  1.  # 55
    u mean if u just paste the url, u don't want the url as caption.
    But if u write html with a caption, then u want it to appear.

    U can take the caption out completely if u want. commnet out this line from JQmedia.js
    if (caption && sourceVideo!='playlist') embedCode.push('<p><a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="' + url+ '">' + caption + '</a><img src="' + jqmediaPath.webRoot +'extensions/JQMedia/external.gif" /></p>');

    Now this works great for me!

    Can you make the Mp3 Player show up when a Mp3 is uploaded to the server (per Attachments plugin)?

    (Yeah, you can post the URL to the file, then it works, but People can't really be bothered to remember the path to the upload-directory and stuff....)

    Also digilee's 'hide url' question is interesting! Peace.

    Hi, Have just started using both Vanilla and the JQ media add on, works great except that my users are able to change the Jqmedia settings, I.e they can select and deselect which video files can be used, it is the same settings pannel I have as an administrator, I would like to disable this, so only I can select the files accepted etc.. Can anyone help.
    Here is my work in progress.

    What about support for http://vimeo.com/ as well? (It has some really solid content on in terms of motion graphics etc)

    Yeah, what Gareth said!

    If I could turn off the jQmedia Setting for Users I could
    get rid of the 'Settings'-Tab for normal Users all together.

    I REALLY want to do this. It just would make things even simpler.
    Please, if anybody knows how to set the jQmedia-Setting to Admin only,
    I would be most grateful. Thanks!

    I know this sounds weird, but just this minute I disabled the jQmedia Plugin.
    Then I turned it back on but now the 'Settings' Tab is gone from the normal User-Accounts.
    While the media still seems to work. Thanks, done. Whyever...

    That's because of the way it's done through JS rather than PHP. I guess there needs to be some kind of check to see if text mode is on and then respect it if it is.

    i just discovered that i cannot embed a video if 'format' is set to BBCode. it just appears as a regular text string. the actual video only appears if the comment format is set to text mode.

    this is a little counter-intuitive for users... can the extension please be modified so that any 'format comment as...' selection works?

    or is it a problem with my forum?

    i also just found another bug - i think.

    i posted a message containing a youtube video, embedded using the old BBcode method.
    vanilla reloaded the page once the new comment was posted, giving me this url:

    http://www.copsandrobbers.net/messageboard/comments.php?DiscussionID=39&page=5#Comment_9092

    the ifilm clip further up the page, embedded with the new jqmedia media plugin, did not appear.

    viewing this url
    http://www.copsandrobbers.net/messageboard/comments.php?DiscussionID=39&page=5

    seemed to fix it. either that, or the act of reloading the page fixed it.

    there is definitely something weird going on which is causing jqmedia not to parse these clips at certain times.

    edited: just a thought - could an extension such as extended text formatter be interfering?

    Is there anyway to stop JQmedia settings from showing up to other groups other then the admin? I have a moderator and senior member groups set up, both can see the settings to JQmedia.

    Have you made any modifications to the above? Maybe you misunderstood me... I'd like to format comments as Html and have the ability to add videos using JQMedia, cause now only links get posted - not videos.

    Hmm I have BBcode insert bar, html formatter and jqmedia running. It shouldn't matter though, since JQmedia just parsers the url and embeds the player. No modifications have been made in mine, cept css changes.

    Since MySpace changed the URL to their videos it doesn't work in JQMedia anymore. In order to get MySpace video's working correctly with JQMedia, you have to go into the JQMedia.js and default.php files and change all the instances of "vids.myspace.com" to "myspacetv.com"

    I accidentally installed JQmedia before the JQquery extension and now I can't seem to get the videos to work. I tried deactivating both, and reactivating the two extensions in the correct order but still nothing, here's my test thread:

    sorry to say that this plugin is definitely hit-and-miss. after a few weeks' testing we've reverted back to the old bbcode method of embedding since it's too unreliable. i'm really not sure what is causing it to work on-and-off but it could well be the html formatter or something similar. also the issue of the plugin not working unless the post is sent in text mode is still causing confusion.

    here's a fix for the bug i mentioned above (JQMedia still works even when user is in text-only mode)

    in JQMedia/default.php, change line 64 from:

    if (in_array($Context->SelfUrl, array('comments.php','post.php')) {
    to:
    if (in_array($Context->SelfUrl, array('comments.php','post.php')) && $Context->Session->User->Preference("HtmlOn") == 1) {

    Pssst, shouldn't the version number have been incremented so that when people run their update checks in Vanilla it shows up?
  3.  # 85
    Yeah. Probably. I thought about that but I wasnt really sure whether to increment it or not. Maybe i aught to.

    Uploaded version 0.5.2 of JQMedia.

    I've changed this version to include bugfixes for other issues reported in this thread such as the change from vids.myspace.com to myspacetv.com, and also the issue of using language targetted youtube URLs. These changes HAVE NOT been tested however they are fairly minor so I don't see that there should be any problems with it.
    PLEASE will someone test this latest version to confirm that it's all working OK and that the fixes behave as desired? If there are any issues please post up in this thread and drop me an email so I can get them sorted.

    I can confirm that some of this is working, but less works than 0.5.1. MP3 seems to be working still, but not YouTube (I've only got.coms at the moment, none of the country specific ones).

    When I have a bit more time I'll see if I can find out why.
