Today I've started working on a style heavily inspired by Facebook Developers and bits 'n pieces of Facebook groups. It's based on Vanilla's default style. This is what I have so far:

    Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

I guess it'll take me a couple of days to finish it. Hope you'll like it ;]
Oh! And it's codename is VanFacebook.

My intention was to make a style out of it, but not everything I wanted to do was achievable only with CSS. So this is going to be a theme. I've done only some minor changes to the default theme so there shouldn't be any problems regarding the functionality of extensions.

Awesome! This is a great theme really showcasing Vanilla's versatility. Any chance of adding color variations as well? Does it use any proprietary fonts?

Great job. Very much like Facebook's interface. Hopefully, they won't get too uptight about you basing a style of their's and come for you.

I think it looks great, and somehow far nicer than Facebook's layout, nice one!
  4.  # 16
Well, unless you just downloaded the images and renamed the CSS to match Vanilla's (blatant copying), I think it'll be alright... Might want to take a look at FB's copyrights though.

It's almost finished. I encourage you to test it at dkdev.pl/vanilla/. Please note that I've tested it only on Firefox and now I'm starting to apply fixes for other browsers. Nevertheless, I'd appreciate any comments and suggestions.

    looks nice! good job!

    comments & suggestions:
    - play with a couple of users with different username length, may be you see more issues then
    - in the discussion list, there isn't the "new" section, to say how many new comments are in the discussion?
    - in the comments page, play also with user icons, the "administrator" gets cut by the comment header
    - the code text could be wrapped?
    - in the account page, the discussions started field in the user information area falls of the line

and that's all, take it as a constructive comment, because for the rest of the style it just looks great ;)

The information about new comments in a discussion will appear when you apply for membership.

As I wrote before, it's almost finished :D and there might be huge display problems in browsers other than Fx. It'd be really helpful if you could tell me which browser you're using and show a screenshot.

Oh, and I haven't played with CSS regarding code, blockquote, ul, ol etc., yet. There still are a few things that I'm aware of and need to be fixed, but those are minor problems and I thought the theme is ready for a debut and some beta testing.

in the first screenshot? it's firebug, an extension of firefox to play with html-js-css of the pages you view

    is quite useful ;)

@Hamed: Yes, people.css will also be modified.

@miquel: Doesn't Ubuntu have Tahoma font?! The font-family I'm using all over the theme is

    font-family: "lucida grande",tahoma,verdana,arial,sans-serif
and I can see from the screenshots you provided that everything is displayed in Verdana (?). Guess I need to widen a few blocks :]

miquelthe code text could be wrapped?

SoftWrap does that; I wouldn't include it in the theme, as some people may not want that.
  7.  # 39
Whoo i like this theme :D
  8.  # 40
Wow, this looks great! One thing that needs mentioning though: this is a theme. I tried to apply it as a style to Lussumo Community and bad things happened ;)

No complaints from me. Just another thing to keep in mind regarding miquel's "account page" issue: Since Vanilla allows custom fields to be added to a user's account, there is no way to determine how long the field name will be. I suggest making the style able to span multiple lines. Probably not an easy task but just simply resizing the name column is not going to fix the bigger problem.

Awesome work! I'll keep watching :)

Yes, this is a theme (I guess I mentioned it a few posts earlier), highly modified in some areas. I've edited the topic of this discussion - might've been misleading :]

As for new (long) labels on the account page, I thought I manged to find a good way to display them, but as you pointed out, I was wrong :] No worries! Those are only minor problems.

But I must admit... as this is my first theme/style, the CSS file is quite messy :/ Now I know it's always better to write from scratch rather than modify someone else's stylesheet.

I can't definitively say this (because I haven't seen all the Vanilla themes/styles), but this is the best theme I've seen to date. Seriously, well done.

See some minor issues on IE 7 (menu bar highlight missing).
Looks good on Opera 9.5 and Safari 3.1 (both windows)

I just can't believe it took me a month to develop this theme!! But it's finally finished :] Well... actually, it's a pre-release. The theme looks good in Opera, Firefox and Safari, but (ofcourse!) not in IE :] Get it here. Let's continue the discussion here and could someone please close this one?
